Norwalk, CT: Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa recently installed
Decisions Business Intelligence System from Datavision Technologies,
Inc. A premier developer of Business Intelligence Solutions in the
hospitality industry, Decisions consolidates data from different
systems (PMS, CRS, POS, Sales & Catering, Back Office, Payroll, etc)
to provide a centralized reporting solution.
The Return on Investment from installing the Decisions system was
almost immediate - the system helped Grove Park Inn eliminate the
night audit position (as reported in the Dec 2001/Jan 2002 issue of
HFTP Bottomline magazine.) At Grove Park Inn, Decisions
automatically extracts key data from the various systems installed –
Springer Miller PMS, Springer Miller POS, Micros POS, Kronos
timeclock, and Abra Payroll. All this information is consolidated
into a central data warehouse and delivered to users via customized
Excel reports. This eliminated the need for any manual intervention
in collecting data and creating flash reports, thereby reducing 8
hours of work to a mere 30 minutes a night
Since Decisions data is accurate down to the penny, the income
auditor at Grove Park uses Decisions to generate custom Excel models
that tie together financial data from various systems and export the
data to the back office at the end of the month.
Grove Park also installed Datavision’s Comment Card Reporting
module. Jay Boyd, Director of Marketing says, “The Datavision
comment card system provides the opportunity to react to customers
on a timely basis. The system provides statistical feedback, sliced
and diced in many ways to each department head.” The comment card
database has information about a number of departments throughout
the hotel: the front desk experience, housekeeping, different F&B
outlets and even comparisons to other resorts in the area.
